Corporate Overview
Engen’s mission is to transform South Africa’s economy through a wide range of interventions targeting enterprise development and entrepreneurship, education and a focus on shifting the gender balance in the petroleum industry.
Providing maths and science education into rural communities is a key pillar of this engagement and has facilitated the growth of university graduates, some of whom, like Mzwandile Harmans, become employed in the Engen system.
Engen also employs women seeking to carve successful futures for themselves such as Phindile Sithole, who works as a bulk truck operator, as well as Gugu Ncongo and Nosiphi Waligwa, who have realised their dream of owning a service station. By supporting new players from small businesses, especially black and female-owned ones, Engen is contributing to the diverse workplace that they believe will move South Africa into the future it deserves.
The company is also assisting SMMEs to succeed beyond their first three years by providing training, finance and business support as well as prioritising the integration of small, emerging, black-owned businesses into the Engen value-chain and helping to groom South Africa’s up and coming young entrepreneurs.
