Corporate Overview

The Story

Old Mutual Alternative Investments is one of the largest private alternative investment managers in Africa, with an investment approach that aims to deliver financial returns as well as make a positive social impact.

In South Africa specifically, impact funds are designed to benefit lower-income communities, particularly in affordable housing and quality education, whilst infrastructure investments like REISA, prioritize renewable energy projects.

Bringing to life the comprehensive contribution of South Africas IPPs, REISA tells a story of a community transformed: from ECD education, streetlights and safety interventions to jobs, enterprise support and local economic development.

As one of the many in OMAI’s education portfolio, BASA is unique in that it’s the only black-owned affordable private school, focused on expanding the choices of South African parents and giving talented young students like Hlengiwe Masikane the opportunity to excel and reach for the stars.

And from private education to affordable housing, where the impact of OMAI’s extensive investment portfolio is brought life by the characters of Karino Estate and the warm sense of happy lives in safe communities enabled by these accessible, quality housing solutions.
