The OR Tambo SEZ, located at South Africa’s busiest airport, is a cornerstone of the country’s industrial strategy. Focused on high-value, lightweight production, this strategic zone is attracting significant investment and creating new opportunities for local industries.

Precinct 1 of the SEZ hosts major players like In2Food, a leader in the food industry. Their state-of-the-art Bonero facility demonstrates the zone’s capacity to support large-scale food production for both local and international markets. Additionally, the jewellery manufacturing sector is thriving, with the entire value chain—from diamond trading to jewellery crafting—housed within the SEZ. This setup not only streamlines production but also enhances the value of South Africa’s mineral resources.

Beyond established industries, the SEZ is committed to supporting small and medium-sized enterprises. The newly launched enterprise development hub equips young entrepreneurs with the skills needed to succeed. Looking ahead, Precinct 2 plans to expand into pharmaceuticals, aiming to bolster Africa’s healthcare production capabilities.
