Corporate Overview
Sibanye-Stillwater is committed to facilitating transformation in South Africa by providing programs and opportunities that are both meaningful and relevant to the needs of local communities.
One stand-out example of this is the creation of The Maths Lab, a facility that has given learners the chance to experience Maths in an interactive and accessible way. This has not only radically improved results, but has made maths interesting and fun for learners like Dimakatso Mosito, who can now realistically pursue their dreams of one day running the mine.
This commitment to education however, goes beyond the schooling system, where Sibanye-Stillwater’s Digital Mining Laboratory, or DigiMine, at Wits University is providing a safe, mock-environment for students to research digital technologies for underground exploration and ensuring that Sibanye is planning for the future together with the best young minds in mining.
From education excellence to responsible extraction, Sibanye also wants to ensure that the commodities it mines are beneficiated locally and to the benefit of creative young South Africans like Anthonia Siliane, the founder of the Siliane Jewels whose jewelry start-up was incubated by Sibanye and became the recipient of the People’s Choice Award at the PlatAfrica awards ceremony in 2018.
