In South Africa, Experian, a global financial data company, has joined forces with the National Small Business Chamber (NSBC) to launch the “How To Be Financially Fit” campaign. This initiative aims to educate small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) on improving their financial health and credit scores, empowering entrepreneurs like Zakhele Mgobhozi and Celeste le Roux.

As a business owner, Zakhele understands the importance of financial literacy and has participated in Experian’s webinar on becoming financially fit. This knowledge has helped him budget and forecast effectively, leading to increased productivity. The company’s unique culture, complete with a meditation room, further fosters a positive working environment. Winning the NSBC National Entrepreneur Champion award has opened numerous doors for Zakhele and Modern Centric Holdings, as they continue to make a meaningful impact on the lives of the LGBTI community and other marginalized groups.

As a business owner, she understands the importance of financial literacy and the role of credit scores in gaining access to funding. Collaborating with Experian, Celeste has been able to improve her business’s credit rating and gain valuable insights on managing finances. Membership in the NSBC has also provided her with support and resources tailored to the needs of entrepreneurs. Celeste’s advice for small businesses is to persevere, no matter how many times they face setbacks, because success lies in the ability to get back up and keep moving forward.

is a visionary entrepreneur who aims to tackle the unemployment problem by creating accessible franchising opportunities. His business, McMore Muffins, handles food manufacturing, packaging, and distribution, providing aspiring franchise owners with a complete business-in-a-box solution. Morero’s model includes supplying branded uniforms and trolleys, enabling people who were previously unable to own a franchise to start their own ventures. The support and funding received from Experian have allowed Morero to expand his business and refine his brand. Driven by his purpose and calling, Morero aspires to grow McMore Muffins into an international enterprise that offers franchise opportunities to people from all walks of life, breaking down the barriers to entrepreneurship.

Experian also partners with NGO Rhiza Babuyile to train the youth to become entrepreneurs, like Morero Moloi, who founded McMore Muffins. By providing accessible franchising opportunities and resources, Morero aims to create entrepreneurs who will contribute to the South African economy.

Experian continues to promote financial inclusion across Africa through education and technology, developing a free consumer app called “UP” to improve financial literacy and credit scores. Through these partnerships and interventions, entrepreneurs are learning the value of financial health and playing a vital role in uplifting marginalized communities in the South African economy.
