Corporate Overview
Learning company Pearson hopes to enable more effective teaching in order to address the educational challenges in South Africa, like low performance and lack of funding. They have accomplished this through the launch of the MyPedia programme in select South African schools, the Vuma reading programme and the acquisition of the Pearson Institute of Higher Education.
MyPedia has provided inventive answers to these educational challenges, like having science labs simulated digitally and running programmes off flash disks if there’s no internet connection.
Vuma provides culturally appropriate and recognisable stories and characters to inspire and help children master literacy.
The Pearson Institute of Higher Education has 12 campuses with more than 7,000 students who they plan to shape into employable graduates.
