The Story

For SA Breweries, a big part of being a loud and proud South African company is about giving the communities in which they operate in the chance the prosper. And the company is making huge strides towards that mission with an initial investment of R1 billion dedicated to improving South Africa over a five year period.

This public investment commitment is focused primarily on the development of agriculture, entrepreneurship and societal upliftment, with an emphasis on financial support, mentoring, and training as well as procurement opportunities and access to markets.

These programmes and interventions have seen the growth of black-owned, women-owned businesses like Kevali Chemicals who now supply both SAB and its multinational counterparts; Fezile Msomi whose inner-city, rooftop, hydroponic farm is challenging the perception of what it means to be a young farming entrepreneur; and Mapula Seboko, an emerging farmer whose improved yields and market access have allowed her to sustainably grow, compete and take care of herself and her family.

In the context of its merger with AB InBev – it is through these transformative engagements for individuals and communities that SAB is demonstrating its commitment to bringing people together for a better world.
