Thabo Batshe, – Communications Assistant (30 Sec)

Thabo, a communication assistant at WesBank, started his career at the company in 2021 with an 18-month internship, which he thoroughly enjoyed. He worked on his own strategic communication during this time and learned a lot. Thabo finds working in his field can be lonely, but he lives with his girlfriend who is currently pursuing her honors in sociology, providing mutual encouragement and support. WesBank absorbed Thabo into the company, demonstrating its supportive and respectful environment, regardless of employees’ positions. Thabo plans to immerse himself in the organization’s many opportunities and become the best in his field. Thabo’s story is an example of how WesBank invests in and develops its employees, allowing them to grow and reach their potential.

Kutlwano Mogatusi – Communications Specialist (30 Sec)

Kutlwano, a communications specialist at WesBank, has been with the company for almost five years and enjoys her job. She feels blessed to work for an organization that recognizes its employees and invests in their development. The Lotus Program, designed solely for women, has upskilled Kutlwano and prepared her for a leadership role. Ghana Msibi, WesBank CEO, saw a leadership quality in her and selected her for the program. The Lotus Program consists of two sessions per month, focusing on topics such as personal branding and networking, which have boosted Kutlwano’s confidence. WesBank’s recognition of its employees as valuable individuals, not just numbers, sets it apart from other employers. Kutlwano’s story is an example of how WesBank invests in its employees, helping them grow and advance in their careers.

Mzwandile Maziwe –  Franchise Operations Manager (30 Sec)

Mzwandile, a Wesbank employee, loves the company’s family culture and support system. He started the Brotherhood movement, a platform for men to speak about issues affecting them in a safe environment. Mzwandile’s personal experience of losing close friends and colleagues to suicide made him realize that there was no safe space for men to discuss serious issues without fear of judgment. The Brotherhood movement helps men become mentally and emotionally stable to serve customers and society optimally. Wesbank’s encouraging work environment, along with support and belief from his colleagues, has enabled Mzwandile to become unstoppable. Mzwandile’s story is a testament to how Wesbank invests in its employees, fostering an empowering and supportive work culture.

After completing his internship at Wesbank, he became a permanent communication assistant. Wesbank’s CEO, Ghana Msibi, believes investing in youth development is crucial for a sustainable organization, and their internship program provides valuable skills development and career opportunities for young adults like Thabo.
